Westwood points out that that has never saved a dynasty yet. To be a good family man was not enough qualification to be an autocratic Czar of Russia. Married to a German princess and descendant of Queen Victoria, Alexandra, Nicholas had four daughters until the longed-for heir to the throne was born in 1904.
