History Debate proposition that revolutionary ideas were a major cause of the collapse of Russian Regimes. In my mind the main cause of the collapse of the Russian Regimes, that is the Autocratic rule and the Provisional Government, was their inability to meet the needs of the people they were supposed to be governing. But of course there were other factors that contributed to their downfall, and plenty of revolutionary political movements ready to seize the opportunity to gain following through the failing of the government. The collapse of the Tsarist regime in February 1917 was due mainly to the gigantic strain of Russia's involvement in World War I. Russian industry lacked the capacity to arm, equip and supply the some 15 million men sent to fight the war.
