Identify and explain the similarities and differences between the aims of Italian Nationalists between 1830-1848 In this essay I hope to explain the differences between some key nationalists in 1830-1848, and what each one wanted for Italy. Firstly I am going to explain the background to this time, in 1820-1821 there were revolutions in; Piedmont, Naples and Sicily. Then there was another wave of revolutions in 1830-1831 which took place in; Parma and Papal States, and then the third wave took place in 1848-1849 in; Lombardy, Venetia, Tuscany, Rome and Sicily. During the time 1830-1848 there were some important nationalists, these were Giuseppe Mazzini, Vincenzo Gioberti, Cesare Balbo and Cattaneo Giuseppe Mazzini was mainly important in the 1830s, and in 1827 Mazzini joined the Carbonari which was a secret society working for the unification of Italy, however he was betrayed in 1830 and imprisoned, on his release in 1831 he moved to...
