In order to fully understand the way in which the government reacted when faced with the problems the 'Great Depression' placed before them, it is important that we first understand the political landscape of the time. Following the depression not one, but three national governments took power in an effort to combat the economic problems facing Britain and, indeed, the rest of the world. We must look at these three national governments individually in order to decided whether they, as a whole, handled the problems well.
