Why did the Nationalist (KMT) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) want to form the United Front from 1924 to 1927? There were many reasons why the Nationalists and the CCP wanted to form the united front during this period. These reasons include... One of the reasons was that both the Nationalists and the CCP had a common goal. For about a hundred years, China was plagued by political and economic problems. Politically, China did not have a strong government and this political vacuum was beckoning for a strong political organization to fill. By uniting, the Nationalists and the CCP could lead China politically. Secondly, both factions were anti-imperialists. For many years, China was blighted by the exploitation and intervention of the Western powers.
