Assess the Main Reasons for the Liberal Victory of 1906 Election? The dominating Conservative presence in government after 20 years in successive power was eroded away in the 1906 election with a landslide victory of the Liberals. The loss of the Conservatives and the victory of the Liberals were caused by many faults in Conservatives Government, like the Education act and Taff Vale. These were scrutinised by the Liberals in everyway which won them the Election. One of the main reasons for the Liberal Victory was the Boer War. Conservative being a big supporter of the Empire waged war on the Dutch Farmers in South Africa. However many problems arose, the army was a big problem.
