A Comparison of Mabini and the Constitutional Committee It has already been said that Mabini was opposed to a Constitution simply stitched together from the constitutions of other states, but his odds with the legislators did not end there. Here we shall look back at the facts and analyses already presented and juxtapose the actions and thoughts of Mabini and his adversaries. Mabini was in favor of a strong executive rather than dispersing power into the hands of several legislators, but his ideas were twice overruled by Congress (Agoncillo 1995). Practically, he was defeated legislatively, and only the faith of Aguinaldo kept him in position of influence. It is sad to note that a sincere man would be constrained by self-serving people.
