This investigation looks at the increase in kinetic energy which occurs when an object loses gravitational potential energy. Apparatus: a timer, a light gate, 4 connection wires, a number of clamps, a pendulum with string, a stand and a ruler. Method: We made sure that the pendulum ball was exactly in line with the light gate and the string and pendulum also exactly above the light gate. We connected the wires to the timer, careful to do so correctly as if the wires are connected incorrectly the voltage could damage the light gate. To measure the experiment, we used the ruler to measure the vertical height that we released the pendulum ball from, then measured the time it took for
