Introduction The formula for Potential Energy is PE = mgh, this meaning that the amount of potential energy that is stored in the object is dependant on the mass of the object, the force of gravity and the height at which the object is stationary above height = 0. When the object is released from it's stationary position, it drops to the floor any way it can, under the influence of gravity.
