Investigating how the length of a wire changes its resistance Introduction An electric current is the movement of electricity from the voltage source, through a conductive object, and then into the ground. It can flow through all materials but only in certain environments when the voltage is powerful enough. Resistance is how easy an electric current can flow through objects. For example, metal has quite a low resistivity so it is very useful in electric circuits. Plastic has a very high resistivity. This means that it is very hard for electricity to flow through it. You can think of resistance like this: It is midday in Trafalgar Square and you want to go from A to B. You have to dodge and bump into people to get there.
