Have a little read: ... Principles of Fitness and Training (PTF) Introduction The sport I have chosen to do my needs analysis is swimming. I chose swimming because that is the sport I compete in and the sport I know the most about. Swimming is like most sports in that for different distances you need different levels of fitness components i.e. in football a goalkeeper will need different fitness components than a centre forward. In swimming there are a wide range of distances and styles of stroke that can be completed. In each distance you need different fitness components but you do not necessarily need different fitness components for different strokes. For instant the butterfly technique is a lot more difficult to do, so to complete the stroke the swimmer will need more endurance than if they were to complete one of the other three strokes (freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke).
