Spesso, infatti, la apparenze sono molto diverse dalla realtà e non sempre un individuo è giudicato per ciò che è. Questi concetti sono chiaramente esposti nelle vite di due personaggi delle opere teatrali da me analizzate: Blanche, protagonista di "Un tram che si chiama Desiderio" di Tennessee Williams ed Helene, personaggio de "Gli Spettri" di Henrik Ibsen.
