The Uses of Cloning Methods A clone is an organism which is genetically identical to its parent. Clones are the result of asexual reproduction where only one parent is involved. There are a number of different types of cloning, animal, plant and human cloning. Before cloning a lot of research is done to find a healthy individual in order to have a healthy result without the fear of any health problems being passed on to the clone, because if there is anything wrong with one clone all will be effected. Animal Cloning There are 5 steps to cloning animals:- 1. Take a fertilised egg (zygote). 2. Let it divide a few times so that you have a ball of cells. 3. Split cells up before they become specialised. 4. Let each cell divide into its own new ball of cells (embryos). 5. Transplant each ball of cells into a replacement (surrogate) mother.
