Pearl Harbor On the morning of Sunday the 7th December 1941, Japan led a terrifying attack on the United States Naval Base, Pearl Harbor. The attack was launched by the Empire of Japan's Carrier Striking Task Force against the U.S. Pacific Fleet and other US armed forces stationed at the harbor. This was a great shock for the US, as they experienced many casualties, both in men and technology. In total American casualties were 2403 dead, 1178 wounded, 188 aircraft destroyed, 5 battleships, 1 minelayer and 3 destroyers were sunk. In contrast to this, Japan suffered few losses. They had 64 dead, 1 unlucky person captured, 299 aircraft destroyed and 5 midget submarines. The President of America described the attack as a day that will live in infamy. The attack left America feeling distressed. Experiencing many casualties, families were left torn apart, not expecting such a loss, due to the fact that they weren't even supposed...
