Discuss the extent to which Wolverine and Xavier fit or contradict the traditional definition of a comic book hero A comic book hero is usually perceived to be a humanitarian; a person that cares for and respects people, is generous, fights injustice and wants to make the world a better place. In 'X-Men', Wolverine and Xavier fit and contradict the stereotypical generalisation of a hero, Wolverine is shown to be drinking, smoking and in a bar which is not what a hero would do and he is also a violent, animalistic person as his hair is formed to resemble wolf ears from which is depicted in his name. During the first scene with him, he is in a cage like structure and his motivation is fighting with his opponent for money. This is against all conventions associated with a traditional hero.
