Analysis of Text 23- Growing Up Genre The genre is a true story novel but in a way, the genre of the text is autobiographical as it shows memories of the author's childhood. The author may have wanted to remind herself of her childhood and how hard life was for and her community but at the same time, the fun part as well. Also, the text is written in 3rd person. Purpose The text is trying to describe the authors childhood, both the good and the bad times. The text describes what the area was like and the people that lived in it. Throughout the text, the author is basically trying to portray that through the bad times or hardship, the community stuck together.
