Ian Vincent What do we study when we do Media Studies? In answering the aforementioned question I hope to discuss how the media has evolved by looking at four of its heaviest influences. This will involve me touching upon aspects of its various forms, institutions, audiences and the transformations it has made. Methods of communication have evolved so rapidly in recent history that for current and potential generations it will seem incredible to think that we once survived without them. No longer do we have to rely upon a face to face meeting or the sending of a letter to spread the word. We can now reach countless recipients across the globe within seconds thanks to the various different forms of the media. 'The media now are part of the general texture of experience'.
