News - Who Needs It? Whether it's Jordan's jungle capers, an exploding whale in Taiwan or the moral issues surrounding the Iraq war that grab the headlines, news is undoubtedly the lifeblood of modern society. Perhaps I'm not a better person for knowing that the streets of Taiwan were closed for a three hour whale intestine clear up operation, but this international 'drop the dead donkey' story certainly worked for me! However, despite my youth I'm not entirely immune to the charms of serious political comment. Whilst I may still not be entirely certain of my personal stance on the allied forces' decision to go to war on Iraq, I do value the press coverage that has allowed me to engage with such vitally important issues.
