Carl Porter of Knoxville, America answered with, "News is anything that sells newspapers."1 As a member of the public, Carl Porter quite rightly associates reporting the news with making money. However, I see many more areas of news reporting than just the financial business side. As an occupation still not given the title of a 'profession'2, there are many aspects of journalism that are often not seen by its audience, the public. By highlighting these different aspects, perhaps then reporting the news could be understood better as being more than 'just another business.' It is an apparent opinion nowadays that Journalism is becoming more of a money-making business, concerned more with raking in the revenue than carrying out the important function of producing an accurate report of events.
