Introduction As part of my coursework I have been asked to find the maximum area that a shape can hold with a perimeter of 1000m. The aim is to find out the shape that can withhold this objective. Examples of these shapes are: A circle, pentagon, rectangle, square, convex polygon, scalene triangle, isosceles triangle and an equilateral triangle. Within this investigation I aim to find out what shape allows the greatest area with a maximum perimeter of 1000 m. In my investigation I will find out the area of a shape with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and n number of sides this means I will try to find a formula. Also I will try to find the area of a circle with a circumference of 1000m. I predict that this will have the greatest area because of the fact that it has an infinite number of sides.
