... Benjy Masher 11lf CHAPER 1 Geography Coursework - Introduction The Rickmansworth lakes are situated just north of Colne Valley Regional Park near Watford in West London -fig 1- pg. ( ). This area, which covers 40 square miles, is made up of the main aspects of countryside including farmland, woodland and waterways. The lakes, which we are going to be covering, are 3 out of 20 lakes in that area. During this field trip we will be concentrating on the 3 most northern lakes: Stockers Lake, Bury Lake and Batchworth lake. The park was created by flooding over 20 gravel pits worked in the early 20th century to provide gravel for road building. The gravel was shipped away by barges on the Grand Union Canal.
