Simon Westwood Investigate volume and surface area The 3 shapes I will investigate are: * Sphere * Cylinder * Cone I have chosen these shapes because they all use Pi and two of the shapes - cone and cylinder - have more than one variable. Formulae Sphere: Volume = 4/3 ?r³ Surface Area = 4?r² Cylinder: Volume = ?r²h Surface Area = 2?r² + 2?rh Cone: Volume = 1/3 ?r²h Surface Area = ?r² + ?rs I will be investigating when the point at which the volume and surface area of a particular shape are equable is reached. I will be using a variable from each shape. Sphere: Only variable is radius Cylinder: I am going to keep the radius at a constant and use the height as a variable. Cone: I am going to keep the height at a constant and use the radius as a variable. I will start with the value of the variable being 1cm for each shape.
