Obtaining Zinc Oxide form Calamine Hypothesis: I predict that the more calamine used the greater the amount of zinc oxide produced. This is because the equation of the reaction must have an equal amount on each side. The equation is ZnCOł ZnO+CO˛. From this it can be seen that for every atom of zinc contained in the calamine it produces the same number of atoms in zinc oxide. Therefore I hypothesise that there is a direct positive correlation and would expect the graph to show a straight line. Plan: To see if my prediction is correct I will need the following apparatus: * Test tubes * Test tube rack * Heat proof mat * Bunsen burner * Tongs * Scales * Spatula * Mineral Wool * Goggles for safety The variable in the experiment is calamine I will do two of each of the following readings 1.0g, 1.5g, 2.0g, 2.5g 3.0g, 3.5g.
