Anorexia/Bulimia In this essay, I will be describing, comparing and explaining the two psychological diseases, Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is defined as a condition characterized by intense fear of gaining weight or becoming obese, as well as a distorted body image. This leads to an excessive weight loss from restricting food intake and by exercising excessively. Bulimia Nervosa on the other hand, is defined as an eating disorder in which constant over-concern with body weight and shape leads to repeated occurrences of binging (consuming large amounts of food in a short time) linked with induced vomiting, use of laxatives, fasting, and/or excessive exercise to control weight. There are many ways in which AN and BN differ from each other. A main difference is that in anorexia the sufferer does, in fact lose weight whereas in bulimia the bulimic person maintains around the same body weight. The reason for...
