In terms of the communication of emotions, facial expressions have been identified as the most obvious form of emotion displayed by humans. Other displays of emotion can be identified by observing voice quality, body language, the personal space humans put between each other and explicit acts but facial expressions appear to communicate the most specific information among non verbal channels of communication. The cerebral cortex and limbic system are parts of the brain that perform the important function of governing and distinguishing emotions.
