How can extra weight be lost? A person who is trying to lose weight should seek help from a doctor/dietician to check if losing weight is what they need. Weight loss takes time and requires changes to a persons' eating habit and way of life. DIETS Most effective and healthy way to lose weight is to take in slightly less energy from food than the body needs each day. The body then makes up the difference by releasing energy it has stored as fat. Gradually the fat stores are reduced. Very low calorie diets are often advertised as a quick and easy way to lose weight. They usually consist of flavoured drinks, containing a variety of nutrients, to replace breakfast and the midday meal. A well-balanced "proper" meal it then eaten at the end of the day.
