Now I will be investigating the number of words in each sentence. But before I will do this, I will conduct a pretest. My pretest will be a short investigation into the word length of sentences in The Sun, Daily Mail and Evening Standard. I will be using quota sampling by selecting one sentence randomly from every page which contains text and counting the number of words in it. In The Sun, the mean word length of sentences was 20.4 words which are rounded to twenty words as sentence length is discrete, not continuous. The mean sentence length of Daily Mail is 26 words and finally the mean sentence length of the Evening Standard is 28 words. In this pretest, I have found out that the Evening Standard has a higher mean sentence length than the Daily Mail or The Sun. Now that I have completed my pretest, I will now continue with...
