Introduction: This survey is to find out the readability of different newspapers. The newspapers I will use are Daily Star (tabloid), Daily Mail (quality), and The Independent (broadsheet). Readability is how difficult a word is to read. In our case, we are judging how difficult a word is by the length of it (the shorter it is, the easier it is to read). We have different readabilities for different audiences or target groups. The readability can differ from section to section in newspapers, for example, the sports section may have shorter words than the news section. Higher readability is easier to read with shorter words, lower readability is harder to read with longer words. Our results will be biased. This is for quite a few reasons. Firstly, on a weekend or Monday, we expect to find more sport than usual. Also, proper nouns will not count in our survey. Proper nouns are places...
