Maths investigation statistical For my statistical coursework I have been asked to observe newspapers which are tabloid and broadsheet. I need to prove 'broadsheet newspapers are harder to read then tabloid newspapers.' To successfully prove or disprove this, I need to come up with a hypothesis of my own, of which is 'tabloid newspapers generally contain shorter words the broadsheets.' In order to do this I need to come up with an appropriate strategy. The sources that I found were the 'Daily Express' (tabloid) and 'The Guardian' (broadsheet). Both newspapers were issued on Tuesday December 16th 2003. As a predication, I think that the statements and hypothesis will appear to be true. A broadsheet paper will have more letters on average per word than a tabloid newspaper. I now need to prove this by carrying out accurate, reliable and coherent information.
