Assignment: Language of Speech In this essay I will analyse the speech by Bridget Bardot, comment on the purpose of the speech and its intended audience. I will look closely at the ways in which the selected language reveals the attitude of the speaker. what persuasive techniques are employed by the speaker and what impact it creates. Throughout this essay I will comment on the features of planned speech and how they differ from spontaneous speech. The opening paragraph for this speech extract contains a semantic field of death and cruelty by using words such as. 'exterminate', 'atrocities' and 'suffering'. All words that would now look out of place in a Second World War novel. They are rather strong and emotive, she doesn't want to meander from the point with more subtle words that could not cause a reaction.
