The Times Newspaper Analysis (Compact Broadsheet) For my assignment on newspapers I have written an analysis on 'The Times Newspaper', which is a compact broadsheet. I have also created my very own newspaper called 'The Courier' using a Microsoft Word. On the front cover the Mast Head font, 'Serif' represents a very traditional newspaper and reads, 'The Times' in all caps, 72-point type. The traditional 'coat of arms' also shows that the newspaper had a traditional past and still wants to be traditional today. This theme of traditional use of font and graphics appeals to older more mature people in the community, mainly people who may have a family and a job. The overall layout of the front page is a 5-column spread with 2 pictures, each taking up a full column. A 'strapline' spreads across the top of the page underneath the masthead. It reads 'The Power 100' in a 'Sans Serif' font...
