Comparing the length of words in different newspapers using various statistical methods Introduction There are many different newspapers, which can be divided into two types, broadsheet and tabloid papers. The tabloid papers are easier to read with more photos and suit people who want shorter, quicker news. The broadsheets are thought to be more intellectual and descriptive. Aim To find out if there is any difference between the length of words used in tabloids or broadsheets. Prediction I think a broadsheet paper will have more letters per word on average than a tabloid paper. Objectives 1. To collect data on the number of letters per word in my two chosen papers, The Sun and The Times. 2. To present my data in a meaningful way. 3. To interpret and analyse my results with diagrams. 4.
