Maths Coursework Alex Shouksmith Task We were given the task, as when you get a 2x2 square on a grid of 10 by 10, then you times the top right hand side to the bottom left and then the top left hand side to the bottom right. You will get a difference of two. E.G. 12 13 12 x 23 = 276 Difference = 286 - 276 = 10 22 23 13 x 22 = 286 We got this if we put this into long hand then you will find that: X (X + 1) (X+1) x (X+10) = X² + 11X + 10 = X² + 11X +10 (X+10) (X+11) X x (X+11) = X² + 11X If you then put these together you can see that the difference of both of those equations for the 2x2 square is 10.
