Investigate the number of different arrangements of the letters of Lucy's name. 1) LUCY 7) ULCY 13) CLUY 19) YLUC 2) LUYC 8) ULYC 14) CLYU 20) YLCU 3) LCYU 9) UCLY 15) CULY 21) YUCL 4) LCUY 10) UCYL 16) CUYL 22) YULC 5) LYUC 11) UYLC 17) CYLU 23) YCUL 6) LYCU 12) UYCL 18) CYUL 24) YCLU So far I have found that 'Emma' has 12 different combinations, whereas 'Lucy' has 24 different combinations. Both names have the same amount of letters. However, Emma has a repeated letter 'M'. I have noticed that with Lucy there are 6 possibilities beginning with each different letter.
