I then tried to find a formula by adding 1 block at a time and investigating the minimum number of policemen needed to observe that amount of blocks (see appendix 1). The blocks need to be arranged in a single line so the investigation is fair. Results Width (with a line of 1) Number of blocks (In a line) Number of Policemen 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 4 4 4 5 N N N + 1 Prediction I predict that for 5 blocks in a row, it will take 6 police men to observe them. I believe this is true because the formula seems to add 1 policeman every time 1 block is added. Formula I showed that the formula works by predicting what the next number would be and tested it (see appendix 2).
