Use the sources and your own knowledge to explain whether you agree with this interpretation of the effects of the poor Law Act of 1834. We can only answer this question if we observe all of the sources given. Firstly source A; this is a report from the Royal Commission into the Poor Laws. It shows about the aims of the Royal Commission and that they tried to make it very 'uninviting'. They did this by stopping the visitors from entering, and allowing the inmates out of the workhouse. They also, stopped beer and tobacco. To make it even more uninviting they separated all of the families, into four chambers. These were the aged and really impotent, the children, the able-bodied females and the able-bodies males. However the last two groups often had the least amount of inmates as these were...
