Simple Spelling Mistake Unveils £2 Million Banking Fraud It was the repeated misspelling of 'yours sincerely' as 'yours sincerly' in all the forged documents that led the 20 different police forces involved to recognise that a major co-ordinated crime had taken place. Five of the 13 men were organisers of the fraud. They would pretend to want to buy the product of a target company. They would ask over the telephone for the company's bank details saying they intended to pay by CHAPS. They would then forge the company's letterhead and directors' signatures from records at Companies House. Armed with a forged letter of authority, they would direct the company's bank to transfer money out of the company's account...
