Adventure games What is an adventure game? An adventure game is a type of computer game usually dominated by exploration, puzzle-solving, and interaction with game characters, with the focus on enjoying a narrative storyline rather than testing reflexes. Adventure games often have more in common with other narrative-based art forms (e.g. films, novels and comic books) than other styles of computer game. How are they made? The first adventure game was created by William Crowther and Adam Scott. It was called colossal cave adventure. At first because of there not being much advancement in technology, a text based interface was used to navigate through the cave system. The game was created using the division of the code written in high-level language and an interpreter. This was much like the way BASIC used to work.
