Introduction I was assigned a question regarding copyright infringement. The question stated that a piece of music was played on Radio 1 that sounded similar to a piece I wrote which had some minor success a few years ago. On obtaining a copy of this song, which had sold around 15000 copies, I discovered that not only was a heavy sample taken from my piece, I also didn't like the lyrical content, plus the composer was claiming to be the original - 10/08/02 Summer. The following text will outline what I researched and the results of my research regarding my rights of copyright. I will also look into the UK Collection societies MCPS and PRS and plan to explain the 'Chain of Title', with regard to who grants permission to whom where sampling, etc. is concerned.
