Strand C - Theory Business communications Communications are essential for business success. In businesses, communications involve internal communications and external communications. This means communications inside the business and communications outside of the business. Communications can happen within functional areas, between functional areas and outside of functional areas with people and organisations outside of the business. Communications occur constantly, can be written or spoken and can be formal or informal. Internal Communications Internal communications are important to let people inside the business know what is going on. The functional areas must communicate with each other in order to support the businesses aims and objectives and with out this communication the business aims are at risk. Internal communications are important to sales as sales and operations must agree on delivery dates, credit limits must be known by sales, a record of what has been sold must be known by finance, problems and delays must be known...
