... To what extent was the new deal successful in solving America's problems in the 1930's? The new deal was an intense period of the legislation set up by President Roosevelt to try and solve the economy problems facing America. The aims it had were to shift emphasis on government's handouts onto getting the American people back into employment. The economy problems occurred because of the Wall Street crash of 1929. This caused a sever depression. Roosevelt intended to beat the problems of the Depression by introducing a series of agencies to help improve employment prospects and basic quality of life. Roosevelt achieved an intense period of legislation through the one hundred days. Roosevelt set-up different agencies to deal with different problems facing the people of America. Yet not everybody agreed that these agencies would help, some thought that they were a waste of taxpayer's money. The Civilian Conservation Corporation was set up
