... 1. (i) In what ways do Sources A and B suggest that the situation in Russia might have improved after the 1905 Revolution? Both Sources A and B have been taken from Tsar Nicholas II's Manifestos, October and November 1905 respectively. In Source A he said that his 'unchangeable will and desire is to grant the population the right of free citizenship, based on the principles of freedom of person, conscience, speech, assembly and union.' He also said 'to include those classes that have been entirely deprived of the right to vote.' This 'free citizenship' and 'right to vote' for all classes suggested an improvement in the way the population was to be treated and to include lower classes into the vote to make them feel like a part of the population. He also stated that 'no law shall go into force without its approval by the State Duma.' This
