... Question 1. Do these sources give similar or different impressions of Stalin? (8) A French cartoonist published source A so the source has to be questioned about its reliability as the view could possibly be bias. The caption quotes "Visit the USSR, see the pyramids." This is a cynical and ironic cartoon source. The pyramids of skulls represent the millions of peasants, kulaks and victims of Stalin's purges of 1934 who were killed. Stalin looks quite evil in the cartoon with his squinted eyes and looks quite proud with his friendly guiding hand to show the on-looker his "achievements" of the deaths of many quite innocent civilians. This source gives a bad impression of Stalin and makes it different from the other two sources. Source B is similar to source A as they were both published in the 1930s but are different because it is published by the soviets themselves and hence could
