League of Nations Revision Which countries did not join the League in the 1920's and why? * America, they felt they were to powerful for the League and would end up giving too much away..., also they wanted freedom * Russia, as they were a communist country, which democratic countries in the League feared * Germany, as they were said to not be a peace loving country What where the aims of the League? * to discourage aggression from any nation * to encourage countries to co-operate especially in business and trade * to encourage nations to disarm * to improve the living and working conditions of people in all parts of the world What were the successes of the League in the 1920's? * In 1921 Sweden & Finland wanted control of the Aaland Islands resting between them. The League studied the case closely, but the islands should go to Finland, Sweden accepted this, war was avoided. +3 * Germany
