How successful was the League of Nations at keeping peace in the 1920's and 1930's? Explain your answer.

... Tuesday 6th February 2007 Michael Boland Class Assessment 1. What was the structure of the League of Nations? The League of Nations was set up with different sections and bodies, each contributing to make it strong, but each in the end making it fail slowly. Firstly, was the Leagues Secretariat. This was in a way the leagues civil service. It kept all records of the Leagues meetings also preparing reports for the different agencies of the league. They also had specialist sections covering areas such as health, disarmament and economic matters. This section in a way succeeded by defeating Leprosy and exterminating mosquitoes, therefore preventing Malaria. In a way the Secretariat also failed. This is because it failed to create peace between Japan and Manchuria and couldn't (didn't have the power) stop Japan from invading Manchuria. Also failing in disarmament, were it could only get Germany to disarm and no other country would, but
