Hitler began his rise to power when he became chancellor of Germany but he was faced with a problem. Hitler wanted to rule Germany with no opposition by creating a dictatorship; this meant that the government were allowed to do whatever they wished with no opposing views. Hitler began his plan with help of the Prussian minister of the interior known as Goring, this meant that Hitler had control over two thirds of the police in Germany. Thanks to this Hitler was able to attack his opponents without getting arrested and when the Reichstag burnt to the ground he used it as an excuse to arrest leading communists and eliminate his opponents. The Reichstag building was seen as a symbol of democracy so it was a great tragedy when it was
