... A Plan of Investigation How was Volkish ideology employed in the Nazi Party's rise to power? This investigation plans to examine how Volkish thought beginning in the 19th century greatly affected National Socialism's viewpoint and political goals and how it influenced the country's acceptance of Nazi ideology. Both primary and secondary sources will be used to illustrate the connection, with particular attention paid to the racial (anti-Semitic), mystical and religious, and social aspects of the ideology. These aspects will then be analyzed and linked to specific Nazi policies and actions and their public acceptance during Hitler's rise to power. B Summary of Evidence In the social upheaval of 19th century Germany arose the concept of the Volk, the focus of which included a strong concentration on nature, anti-Semitism, and the belief in German superiority that was buoyed by the influence of Volkish mysticism and religions.
