Hitler made a person called Kurt Gruber national leader. The main purpose of the Hitler Youth Movement was to give Hitler an opportunity to spread his ideas throughout the nation, and to create a new generation that would be loyal and unified; it consisted mainly of ten to eighteen year old children. From 1929 steps were taken to link it to the storm troopers, Hitler had complete control over every single stage in the young Germans lives. There was also a patrol service (SRD) that would check that all the members of the Hitler Youth were looking smart and that they were carrying a clean handkerchief and comb. The
