5) I agree with the statement, 'It was the work that women did during the war that earned them the vote'. This is because; although many people may argue that men didn't really notice the work they did, (because they got back to working on their original job before they began fighting in the war) the reality still remains that women only gained the vote after WW1. Source J agrees with me and the statement as well. The extract from a speech made by Herbert Asquith states that due to the contribution 'to every service during this war except that of fighting', 'a measure of women's suffrage should be given'. In other words, women should be given the vote for the amount of work they carried out during the First World War. Although, Asquith declares that only 'a measure of women's suffrage should be given'. One can interpret from this comment...
