... Do sources D and E make it more or less likely that the account given in source C is accurate? Source D is written by a German Jew and is a description of events in the weeks before Kristallnacht. The German Jew has claimed that there were "signs of unrest amongst the masses" before Kristallnacht this makes it likely that Kristallnacht was: a result of public unrest, was undertaken by the public and also implies that an event such like Kristallnacht was an eventuality; this disagrees with source C which claims that the German public had nothing to do with the violence. Source E is an anonymous letter sent to the British consul shortly after Kristallnacht and is quite blunt about who was to blame; in contrast to Source D it suggests that Kristallnacht was staged by the police and the SA "the police supplied SA men with axes" which agrees with
